Reclassification of Whitmore Green, Farnham as recreational space

We the undersigned petition Surrey County Council to reclassify Whitmore Green, Farnham, GU9 9AF as a recreational space and mow it as such. It is not a verge. We request this to increase the grass mowing schedule, 4 times a year is not adequate for an area such as this.

Children and pets use this recreational space for exercise and games - football, dog walking, picnics and kites are not uncommon. We use this area every week.
Since Surrey took on responsibility for the mowing we are informed that Whitmore Green is considered a verge and therefore will only be cut 4 times a year. The green is not a verge, it is not next to a road. It is a recreational space.
Further, the lack of grass cutting impacts on
- potential health risks for children and pets associated with tics - and the potential for Lyme disease
- Curb appeal of the estate - the long grass makes the area look unnecessarily untidy
- Increase in hayfever symptoms for sufferers.

We invite you to come and visit the area for yourselves.
