To approve the business case for the expansion of Cranleigh C of E Primary School from a 1 Form of Entry at year Reception (90 places) and 2 Forms of Entry at Year 3 (240 places) providing a total of 330 places to a primary with 2 Forms of Entry at year R (180 places) and 3 Forms of Entry at year 3 (360 places) providing a total of 540 places an increase of 210 primary places.
The school currently operates across two separate sites. The proposal is to build a replacement school within the grounds of the nearby Glebelands Secondary School and release the two existing sites for re-development.
This will provide a new 540 place primary school to meet the need for additional school places in the Cranleigh area of Waverley.
RESOLVED:
That, subject to the agreement of the detailed financial information for the rebuilding of the school as set out in Part 2 of this agenda, the business case for the rebuilding of Cranleigh Church of England Primary School be approved.
Reasons for Decision
The proposal supports Surrey County Council’s statutory obligation to provide sufficient school places to meet the needs of the population in the Cranleigh area.
