Gavin Kitchen, Youth Support Service Team Manager in Surrey Heath, will be attending to present the Annual Performance report for Services for Young People.

 

The purpose of the report is to update the Local Committee on how Services for Young People has supported young people to develop their employability during 2014/15, which is the overall goal of Services for Young People.

The Local Committee has an important part to play in supporting the local development of Services for Young People, ensuring that they are providing the right support to young people in local communities. In particular they have an important formal role in relation to the Local Prevention Framework and Centre Based Youth Work.

 

The Local Committee (Surrey Heath) noted how Services for Young People has supported young people to be employable during 2014/15, as set out in the appendix to this report

 

Minutes:

This report looked back at the work of Services for Young People in Surrey Heath. Members were pleased to note the figures especially the reduction of Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) young people in the borough. They were also keen to express the excellent work of the Windle Valley Young People, and noted that one of the greatest challenges for the service was the mental health issues of young people.

 

It was reported that the Local Committee has an important part to play in supporting the local development of Services for Young People, ensuring that they are providing the right support to young people in local communities. In particular they have an important formal role in relation to the Local Prevention Framework and Centre Based Youth Work.
