Senior Appointment of Director Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture

    Purpose of the report: 

     

    The People, Performance and Development is asked to proceed with interviewing for the post of Director Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture. 

     

    The shortlisted candidate will be interviewed by the Committee. The Committee will then discuss and, if appropriate appoint to the role of Director Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture. This recommendation is subject to the notification of every Member of the Cabinet of the proposed appointment and their right of objection specified in the notification.

    Key points raised during the discussion:

     

    1. An interview was conducted by a Sub-Committee of the People, Performance and Development Committee for the position of Director of Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture. During the interview, the candidate delivered a presentation to the Committee after which Members asked a series of questions on the presentation. The candidate then responded to a number of set questions asked by the Committee.

     

    1. Following the end of the interview, Members discussed the performance of the candidate in detail and agreed that Liz Mills clearly demonstrated the skills and experience necessary to be Director of Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture at Surrey County Council.

     

    Actions/ further information to be provided:

     

    None

     

    RESOLVED:

     

    The People, Performance and Development Committee agreed to appoint Liz Mills to the role of Director for Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture.
