The deadline for public questions is seven days before the meeting (18 February 2025). Additional documents: Minutes: Two public questions had been received. Question 1 - Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) engagement The Cabinet Member for Highways, Transport, and Economic Growth stated that a formal response would be provided to the supplementary questions to cover any points not previously raised. A series of consultation events would be held with the public during this period. The service would be asked specifically to contact the Fetcham Residents Association to set up a design workshop to address their concerns. Regarding routes that people might not necessarily use, The Cabinet Member emphasised that all funding was external, granted by Active Travel England. Only projects with the support of both the public and Council would proceed to funding rounds. Active Travel England allocated funding based on an allocation process. The questioners highlighted guidance produced by Active Travel England that emphasised stakeholder engagement. The Cabinet Member noted that engagement would take place and that a formal consultation process would be held. The Cabinet Member confirmed that the Divisional Councillors, Claire Curran, and Tim Hall would be kept informed, including of design workshops. Question 2 – Notification of Council consultation results on the future of Walton High Street Trees The questioner raised issue with the state the current trees had been left in and the Cabinet Member confirmed that a supplementary response could be provided after the meeting. (Response: The trees were scheduled for removal as part of the highway improvement plans that commenced in April 2023. However, due to public concern at the onset of the works, the project was halted before completion. As the trees were not fully felled, they were left in a damaged state.) The questioner raised concern with the Council’s plans for community engagement, particularly digital exclusion. The Cabinet Member confirmed that physical notices would be placed in proximity to the trees with details of what steps the Council was undertaking. |

Petition: Traffic Lights at the Junction of Acacia Avenue and Egley Road
The petition received requests that the Council installs traffic lights at the junction of Acacia Avenue and Egley Road in order to help slow traffic down coming from either end of Egley Road and to allow traffic in and out of the Barnsbury Estate in Woking. Additional documents: Minutes: The Cabinet Member for Transport, Highways, and Economic Growth noted the formal response to the petition and the high cost required to deliver the request. The Highway Engagement & Commissioning Manager emphasised that the Council received many requests for highway improvements and deliverability and affordability issues had to be taken into account. The Council would continue to consider options if there were any changes in circumstance. |
