Surrey Fire and Rescue Service intends to base the Chobham fire engine at Woking Fire Station for up to a year from April, while a new village station is built. SFRS and SCC have inexplicably turned down the offer of the free use of a building at the adventure farm – 100 metres from the village station – meaning the village firefighters must travel 3½ miles to Woking to crew their engine when they are called out. Speed limits all the way, busy roads and four sets of traffic lights will unacceptably increase their attendance time. Moving to the adventure farm will add less than a minute.
