Stop the Shalford urbanisation plans to widen, tarmac and install 5 metre high lights for the entire length of Dagley Lane to Guildford alongside environmentally protected land (SSSI). INSTEAD make appropriate improvements for cycling and other users while protecting the countryside.

We the undersigned petition Surrey County Council to Stop the Shalford urbanisation plans to widen, tarmac and install 5 metre high lights for the entire length of Dagley Lane to Guildford alongside environmentally protected land (SSSI). INSTEAD make appropriate improvements for cycling and other users while protecting the countryside.

We are not properly informed of current plans for Dagley Lane, we call on the planner to
1. Make available detailed modelling in complete detail which presumably attempt to justify these plans to urbanise this historic lane of great natural beauty along the SSSI rather than more straightforward improvements.
2. Explain how the plans could possibly benefit the environment currently enjoyed by so many cyclists and pedestrians with the destruction of many mature trees, natural hedging, shrubs including blackberry bushes, precious habitat for bats etc and sources of food for so many birds and wildlife?
3. Describe and provide explicit detailed commitments for future years, how this expensive urbanisation could ensure the safety of current users with potential high-speed usage by off-road vehicles, electric and otherwise around downhill, blind corners preventing the enjoyment of current users like families with small children, dog walkers and off-road cyclists and ensure safe usage for all after dusk along this secluded path.

We strongly advocate for an improved surface and ensure better drainage where needed so it can be less muddy for the wetter weeks of the years - not this unwarranted and unjustified urbanisation.
