Expert Assessments (psychological, cognitive and parenting assessments etc.) are used to help inform children’s safeguarding decision making before going to court and during care proceedings. The 9 month waiver is being sought until the 31 July 2019 to cover external expert assessment spot purchasing costs that will be incurred both before and during care proceedings. This is to prevent children and families who are experiencing care proceedings from being negatively impacted by drift in delay for assessments and report writing to take place.
