40 Degreez is a registered charity started in 2005 to meet the needs of Farnham’s young people.
Throughout the years the role and services provided by the charity have evolved to meet the every changing needs of the young people. The current emphasis is based on issues around mental health; obesity and low self-esteem. The work is led by our very experienced youth leader and is delivered by 40 Degreez in partnership with other local agencies including Surrey Youth Support Services and the local NHS Trust.
40 Degreez employs three part time staff who run the business with a board of voluntary trustees chaired by Mrs Janet Maines. The charity has a written constitution and forward looking five year business plan. Trustees are appointed for their particular areas of expertise: networking; safeguarding; youth work; health and management; finance; IT; marketing and building maintenance. All trustees are expected to attend the three meetings throughout the year and the AGM and a working group of trustees meet monthly to discuss the day to day affairs of the business. The constitution states that observers from the county, borough and town councils be invited to attend all meetings as their presence not only open channels of communication with their respective councils but also afford a better understanding of the work done at 40 Degreez.
Funding for this work is raised through grants and donations and via room rental which is very competitively priced. The rooms vary in size and are ideal for business and private functions as well as exhibitions, conferences and parties.
