Surrey Police and Crime Panel

Purpose of committee

Please note that due to the national situation regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, all future meetings of this committee will be taking place remotely until such a time when they can be reconvened in person. As a result the public will be able to view the meeting via the live stream.


The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 underpins new governance and accountability arrangements for policing in Surrey, which include the formation of a Police and Crime Panel.

The role of the Panel will be to maintain a regular check and balance on the performance of the directly elected Police and Crime Commissioner. The Panel is a hosted by Surrey County Council, and consists of one elected member (councillor) from each of Surrey’s twelve local authorities and two co-opted independent members.
